Article Retraction & Withdrawal
The Journal of Advanced, Basic, and Applied Research in Mathematics Education is dedicated to upholding the integrity and reliability of the scholarly record. This policy delineates the procedures for article withdrawal and retraction in accordance with best practices and the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Article Withdrawal (Before Publication)
Article withdrawal pertains to the removal of a manuscript before its formal publication. A manuscript may be withdrawn under the following circumstances:
- The author(s) request withdrawal for valid and ethical reasons, such as the discovery of significant errors in the data or analysis;
- The manuscript is found to violate journal policies, including plagiarism, duplicate submission, or ethical misconduct;
- Editorial or technical errors that compromise the integrity of the review or publication process.
Withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to the editor and include a clear explanation. The final decision regarding withdrawal rests with the Editor-in-Chief. Withdrawn manuscripts will not proceed to publication and will be removed from the editorial workflow.
Article Retraction (After Publication)
Article retraction applies to articles that have already been published and is utilized to rectify the scholarly record. An article may be retracted if:
- There is clear evidence of research misconduct, such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification;
- The findings are demonstrated to be unreliable due to major errors, unethical research practices, or invalid data;
- The article constitutes duplicate or redundant publication;
- Ethical approval or informed consent requirements were not properly fulfilled.
Retraction may be initiated by the editor, the author(s), or the publisher following a thorough investigation. A retraction notice will be published in the journal, clearly stating the reasons for retraction. The original article will remain accessible but will be clearly marked as retracted to preserve the transparency of the scholarly record.
Expressions of Concern
In cases where an investigation is ongoing and conclusive evidence is not yet available, Journal of Advanced, Basic, and Applied Research in Mathematics Education may issue an Expression of Concern to alert readers to potential issues related to a published article.
Author Responsibilities
Authors are expected to cooperate fully with investigations related to withdrawal or retraction and to provide relevant information when requested. Failure to comply may result in additional editorial actions.
Editorial Responsibilities
The editorial team of Journal of Advanced, Basic, and Applied Research in Mathematics Education will handle all cases of withdrawal and retraction fairly, confidentially, and transparently, following COPE procedures and ensuring that decisions are made solely in the interest of academic integrity.
